COMPRESSION BANDAGING

Using multi-layer, graded compression bandaging system.

METICULIOUS SKIN CARE

To improve skin integrity and reduce the risk of infections. People with lymphedema are at a higher risk of developing Cellulitis which is an infection in the skin caused by bacteria, cracks in the skin and high protein deposits in the tissues

MANUAL LYMPH DRAINAGE

Light massage that stimulates the lymph system and helps move fluid and reduce fibrosis.

EXERCISES

Using muscles to move lymph fluid. Since there is no pumping system for lymph fluid it is dependent on muscles action to move fluid. Stretching is important to reduce complications from radiation.

GLYMPHATICS

More and more research is being done on the lymphatics in the brain and recent studies show most neurologic conditions can be attributed to stagnant lymph fluid in the brain. There are techniques to clear fluid from the brain.

HEAD & NECK LYMPHEDEMA

Is caused from removal of lymph nodes for cancer and radiation treatments. Studies show 90% of people with head and neck cancer develop lymphedema which can present on the inside and outside of the neck and face.

BREAST CANCER RELATED LYMPHEDEMA

Common side effect after surgery for breast cancer and treatments for breast cancer. Axillary Web Syndrome may develop which is rope like scar tissue in the axilla and arm and may cause pain and limit ability to raise arm. Fibrosis (hardening of tissues) is caused by radiation and swelling and requires treatment or it will continue to worsen.

POST COSMETIC SURGERY

Manual lymph drainage helps clear fluid build up from surgical area to improve healing and reduce risk of developing fibrosis.

LIPEDEMA

Is a disease of abnormal fat accumulation that develops during puberty, pregnancy or menopause. Most people are told they just need to lose weight. It is very difficult to lose lipedema fat but there are options to assist in treatment.

VENOUS DISEASE RELATED EDEMA

The lymph system works with the venous system so if someone has problems with their veins they will likely have problems with their lymph system. Signs of lymphedema with venous disease include swelling in legs, ankles and feet; discoloration in lower legs, dry skin and in severe cases bumps on the skin called papillomas.

WOUND CARE

Wounds are common with advanced lymphedema and will usually heal faster with treatment for lymphedema and compression.
